FAQs

Tell us about the Health Services that are planned?

A number of you have asked what health services will be available when we first open our doors.  It is clear at this point that our skilled nursing and memory care buildings will not be complete when we open.  We do plan to offer assisted living services immediately after receiving final approval from CDPHE. However, we know from experience that CDPHE is typically the last governing agency to review and inspect our campus.  They like to be last because they know that once they are done, nothing else is going to change unless they mandate it.  But we also know that this can cause some meaningful delays (weeks or months) from getting final approval to offer assisted living services at Academy Mapleton Hill.  To address such a potential delay, we will turn to our captive home care company, Academy Homecare.  We started Academy Homecare more than a decade ago and it has both a Class A and a Class B license issued by CDPHE.  We refer to it as a “captive” home care company because Academy Homecare only offers home care services to residences at one of our Academy communities as compared to the general Boulder community.  Many of our assisted living caregivers at Academy University Hill also work as caregivers for Academy Homecare.  They are a great group and we plan to grow that group in anticipation of our grand opening.

Leading the charge for growing Academy Homecare and building the assisted living team at Academy Mapleton Hill will be Derrick Landis.  Derrick will be our Health Services Director and his first day on the job will be next Wednesday, February 1.  Derrick brings over 13 years of experience in healthcare administration and has led clinical and administrative operations in both skilled nursing and assisted living communities.  We are excited to have Derrick joining our team.

What is the Fire and Emergency Evacuation Plan?

From a planning and building perspective, there are many precautionary measures built into our campus.  Because we are so close to mother nature, we must have all of our exterior surfaces constructed with fire resistant materials.  Of course, our entire campus is fire sprinklered.  Of particular interest is the special dedicated exterior sprinkler system along the west edge of our property.  At the suggestion of Fire Marshall David Lowry, we are installing a separate system to be triggered only in the event of a wildfire threat.  This dedicated system would hose down the entire west side of our property to provide a buffer from any fire that might threaten us via the Mt. Sanitas area.  Our actual evacuation plans will be submitted to the Boulder Fire Department as well as the state health department, known in Colorado as the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (“CDPHE”).  CDPHE also has jurisdiction over us because of our assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing operations.  Our final evacuation plans will be the result of much conversation and strategizing with CDPHE, David Lowry and his team of experts.

What is the closet finish credit?

Matt and Melissa will also help you with your closet finish credit.  We are offering a closet credit match equal to 20 basis points on the amount of your membership deposit.  For example, if your membership deposit is $2,000,000, you would receive a credit of up to $4,000 to match, dollar for dollar, the amount you spend on any closet finishes.
